  1. Usually when you listen to people's advice, it's bound to be wrong somewhere.  Your girlf needs to apply for a new passport, she got that when she was a child when passport's life was 5 year(still 5 yrs for children) An adult passport life is 10yrs.  Your gf needs to pick up a passport form from the postoffice; fill it out and send it off with the right documents,(she can include her child passport-this will be destroyed and she will be issued another passport as an ADULT).  Any advice you listen to, should be from the Passport office.  And time is not really on your side if you want to get the passport back to be able to travel in June.  Get your skates on and go to Passport Office in Victoria-London (if it is still there) and get the ball rolling. Goodluck!

  2. You have given the information that the passport was issued in 2001.

Sadly, only 5-year passports issued in 1998 can be extended (the change was made a few years ago when passports moved to a new technology.)

Your GF will need a new passport, I'm afraid. And you are strongly recommended, if you want to go away in June, to get a move on :-)

If you really need a passport in a hurry (as I did a couple of years ago, because I was working in a secure facility and needed a passport to gain access several times a week), then Trailfinders offer a service (not cheap) where they'll run things round for you. In my case, my employer paid those fees for me :-)

You can go yourself on the "sameday" service, but you can only do so if you book in advance, and you need to demonstrate your need (ie - actually have tickets in hand, rather than just a hope that you'll be able to get some).

The link given by Confucius above, ironically, proves his claim that it can be extended to be wrong :-(

  3. in actual fact your childs passport can be extended for a further five years subect to certain conditions

go to PASSPORT AGENCY WEB SITE FOR information

AND HERE IS THE PROOF AND THE LINK FOR THE INFORMATION
