  1. Yes, you do, providing you are traveling outside of your country. I am going on a cruise in May with my mom and I needed to apply for one. It took a little over 12 weeks (they have a small delay in the office due to massive backup).  I'd highly advise you to get one ASAP since you never know when you'll  need to travel outside the country. And no, your birth certificate will not cover you anymore. Oh, and if you have any other travel q's, go to http://www.tsa.org (it's the site for the Travel Safety Administration).

  2. Yes

  3. NO, you do not need a passport for SEA travel yet.  However, some cruise ines require their passengers to have passports, so CALL and ask them.  But, the law, does not yet require it.  Now, if you are planning to take a cruise sometime next year, after june, then the law will likely be in effect and you will need a passport.  if this is the case, apply soon.  There will be another great rush for  passports as the date nears.

  4. If you're going out of the United States you do.

  5. A new law will go into effect on January 1, 2008 that will require a passport for everyone entering the United States, regardless of whether its by car, plane or cruise ship.  You can read all about all of the passport requirements on the Passport office's web site:

    http://travel.state.gov/passport/passpor...

Right now, until December 31, 2007 you must have a passport if returning by plane from another country.  BUT, if you leave the US on a cruise ship from a port that is in the US (including Hawaii and Puerto Rico which are a part of the US) you do NOT need a passport (as long as you get back by December 31, 2007).

So if your cruise starts and ends in the US between now and December 31, 207 you don't need a passport, just a photo ID and birth certificate.

  6. Oh Yeah Its True Alright!!! In order to board a cruise ship you have to have a vaild passport. Since passports take soooooo long to get (unless you pay a whole lot of money) many cruise lines let you show a reciept of a passport to get on board. (Not all cruise lines) Also if you plan on going on a cruise you should buy a passpor at least 6-10 weeks in advance. So the answer is yes!!! YOU NEED A PASSPORT!!

  7. no it's not true, although it is highly recommended. all you need is your birth certificate and a drivers license. but if you're going on an international cruise, you DO need a passport. by the way, starting jan1 of 08. you WILL need a passport to go anywhere.
