  1. Yes, your passport is your main proof of citizenship.

  3. It must be because my employer accepted as proof of being a US citizen when I got a new job.

  5. Considering you need 2 forms of identification and a thorough background check, a passport is as close to proof of citizenship as it gets.

  6. Not any more.  You have to have a certified birth certificate.  That means the birth certificate has to be an original, and it has to come from the capital of the state you were born in.
