  1. Baja California is a state in Mexico.

It depends if you are driving or flying, and how  long you are staying.

If you are flying,  you need a passport to get back into the US.

Those traveling by land or sea must present two forms of valid identification such as a birth certificate or naturalization certificate and a driver's license or other identification issued by a state or official agency. These travelers will not be required to present a passport until June 1, 2009, and there is a PASS card (Passport card, available spring 2008) that is credit-card sized and cost less than a passport, which will allow travel in the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda.

A tourist card, or FMT, is a tourist permit required for travelers to Mexico who will be staying longer than 72 hours, or traveling outside the United States-Mexico border zone.  Baja California is within the border zone.

  2. Baja California? Crossing into Mexico overland you do not need much beyond a drivers license, and you need proof of citizenship like a birth certificate to reenter the US. If you are flying (to Cabo or similar) from a US airport, you need a passport. In about a year a passport or passport card will be required for all crossing into the US from Mexico, but not yet.

  3. You said your going to Baja, California? And your going back into the US? lol well you only need a passport when your going out of the US

  4. If you drive to Mexico, passports are not required yet. Your picture ID and your birth certificate (original with the seal )will do.
