passport shwing immigration and naturalization service stamp I-551 what is this exactly so i can send it?

  1. It is the stamp inside your passport that you received when you entered the United States for the first-time with your IR-1 visa.

    It should read something to this effect: "Processed for I-551. Temporary evidence of lawful admission for permanent residence. Valid until _____. Employment Authorized."

    If you entered with another visa other than an IR-1 and changed your status at a later date, then you will not have received one and thus send them a copy of your actual green card.


  2. Stamp I-551 serves as a temporary permanent resident card, or green card, which you may have as a separate document (the size of a credit card) rather than a stamp in your passport.

    You may never even had that stamp in your passport and just got the green card at some point, so just send a copy of that and you'll be good to go.
