Question:

Passport renewals , adult and child?

I live in the uk

Both myne and my sons (almost aged 5) are due to expire early next year

iv been on line and read different things about the renewal of both

What I need to know is does eithyer passport require a countersignature even though its just a renewal and do i have to send the old pasports back

this is for both an adult and a child passport

  1. You will only need a countersignature if you're unrecognisable from your previous photo to the new one.


  2. the main post office in your town should have a passport office in it, you should check it out, so many laws have changed.

  3. The easiest way would be to get 4 photos of each of  you and get one of each countersigned.  That way they can take which ones they need.

    Yes you'll have to send your current passports back.  If they are still in good condition then they will cut a corner off of each to signify that there are renewal versions.

    If they are in a damaged condition then will not be returned to you, but destroyed.

  4. Yes, the back of the pics need to be signed every time they are sent off.
