  1. Seeing as some say yes and others no why don't you ring the airlines or the passport/customs offices.

  2. you dont need a passport to travel between the UK and the Rep. of Ireland. You do however need photo id if your flying by plane - passport is handy for this but drving licence will do

  3. No you don't need a passport to fly between ireland and the UK, but you will need official photo identification e.g. driving licence.

However its always best to have your passport.

  4. nope you don't need a passport just have some form of id that shows that your British

  5. you need a passport to fly to Ireland, its the airlines security measure against terrorism

  6. I would say you need a passport anywhere you go nowadays.

  7. You don't need one but I always bring mine anyway. I'm flying home to Ireland today with BMI Baby and have the booking confirmation in my hand. It says "If you are travelling on UK Domestic and UK-Republic of Ireland flights and aged 16 years and over, you must present valid photographic identification".

I'm not sure what other forms of identifications they would accept though. I say  a drivers license would be ok.

  8. I am just back in Ireland after a holiday in England and I had to have one.

  9. not by customs bu the airlines will expect it as part of their 'security' checks, ie, you need one

  10. I think you can go without one, i went on the ferry to Ireland without a passport anyway.

  11. no you dont need a passport unless it changed recently cos i flew from dublin to london a couple of years ago and i dont have a passport so i used my driving license.

  12. yes

  13. Actually no you dont need a passport. If u have a drviers licence that will do instead of a passport. but it would be better if you had a passport.

My family and I just came back from england tonight. From London to Dublin.

My Mom,Brother and Sister have passports, but my dads was out of date, but he could travel with his drivers licence.

Enjoy your your holiday to ireland!

  14. technically you shouldnt need 1.... but yes, you do!

  15. You do need a psssport because Ireland(Republic) is a diffierent country than England. You do not need one to go back and forth from Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. This is because the Republic of Ireland still conciders itself somewhat the same country as Northern Ireland and vice versa. I lived there and hopes this helps.

  16. yes u do need one im going to Edinburgh soon and im in Birmingham and i need a freaking passport which im still waiting on grrrr i hate the home office

  17. Yes,

  18. If you are Irish or British you do not need a passport but you do need some type of id, preferably drivers licence or something official with your photo on it. If you have a passport take it, it is the best type of id you can have anywhere.

The Republic of Ireland and the UK operate what is called the Common Travel Area, passport free travel.
