Question:

Passport requirements for babies?

My husband, daughter, and I are planning a trip to the Philippines in March of next year. Our daughter will be almost one year old, actually she will have her first birthday while we are there. I was wondering what are the passport requirements for babies. Her father, my husband, is a Filipino citizen with a US greencard, I am a US citizen, if that makes any difference at all. Thanks very much.

  1. No - it shouldn't, just go to the Post Office and fill out the forms.  She'll get her own passport - just like you.

  2. A long time ago children could travel on their parent's passport, but not any more.

As another person said, she needs her own passport. You need to get the usual passport photos (yes, you can hold her while they take the picture so long as her face is clear in the picture), then all three of you need to go in person with the pictures and her birth certificate to one of the many places where you can apply for passports, fill out form DS-11, and pay $85.
