Passport seized by police?

Hi. You can tell by the title I screwed up pretty bad but that is all in the past thankfully. I am wondering if anyone knows how I go about renewing my passport that was seized which has now actually expired. Ive searched everywhere and can't find any clear answers which was surprising. Ive tried to get it back from these guys with no luck. So basically I would like to get a new passport but don't have the old one and it is expired. Any advice or direction is appreciated. Thanks!

  1. You don't say if it's a British passport or American .. or, indeed, Australian, etc so I'm not sure if this will help.   Nor do you say if it was seized by the same country you want to get a passport from (if that makes sense).

But you could just apply for a new passport and see what happens.

No idea about US regulations, sorry!

  2. Depends on who it was seized by. Meaning what country?

I would just apply for a new passport and state that you old one was expired or lost. Contact the post office as they will be able to answer this question for you.

  3. Go to the embassy or to the post office and fill out a new passport form. If your passport was taken by the police, then your name may appear in the embassy records that your passport was taken. Therefore, it may be difficult to obtain a new one.   Here is the link for the U.S. Passport Agency
