  1. You will need passport; or birth certificate and government issued id, like a drivers license.  You need to show the id's when you are coming back to the US.

  2. February 1, 2008, the new passort card came out.  The two choices are the passport card or a regular passport.  Both are good for the same amount of time.  The difference is that the passport card is much cheaper, approx, $55,and it is only to travel by land.  If you know you will fly, then get a passport.  However, the new passport card will not be required until December 2008.   For now, you only need birth certificate and ID if traveling by land.

  3. You will need your birth certificate and TWO forms of picture ID now. They changed the rules. But if you have that you are fine. We just went to Mexico using that stuff about 3 weeks ago.

    Have fun

  4. The rules changed two weeks ago.  Check out the State Department website. If you are driving, he'll need at least two forms of ID.   I would tell him to try and get a passport to be on the safe side.

  5. we are flying to mexico in april.  we were told that the laws just changed and you have to have a passport to fly.  good news is, we applied for our passports on January 28, and just found out that they have already been processed and mailed and we should receive them february 18!  really fast.  less than 3 weeks to process.
