  1. You sometimes need a passport to open a bank account.

Depending on what airline you are flying with, you need a passport to fly here from the UK.

  2. check with these folks:

Visit the Embassy of Ireland web site at http://www.irelandemb.org for the most current visa information, or contact the embassy at 2234 Massachusetts Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20008, tel: (202) 462-3939, or the nearest Irish consulate in Boston, Chicago, New York or San Francisco.

  3. apparently you need a passport for northern ireland. Ive been to southern and didnt need one. If in doubt ring passport office

  4. what?

  5. If you are a Foreigner you need a passport

  6. If you are travelling from mainland Britian you do not need a passport for any part of Ireland, North or South.  I dont know where one of your previous repliers got their info from, where do they think Northern Ireland is, on the moon or something.  If you are coming over here on holiday, have a good one and enjoy the craich.

  7. i've been to eire twice from the u.k. and had to show my passport in ireland both times - and on departure from the airports..

i believe you even have to have a passport for internal flights in the u.k.

why risk being turned away at check-in?

  8. You need to show your passport when flying, but not when taking the ferry. Any ID will do for the ferry, like a driver's licence.
