Password Protect Printer?

I have in Lexmark X5470 printer. I want to know is there anyway I can put a password on my printer so when people use it they have to enter a password. I need this fast, I am tired of buying ink cartridges every 2 wees for people coming to my house and using my printer. I thougth about taking the usb cord out of the printer when I am not home but sometimes my mom has to use the printer and she is not computer savvy.

    No there is no way other that Physically disabling the computer or Printer

    Buy cart for your self and pop them in when you are using them and tell the others to buy there own.

    Or you could just PHYSICALLY DISABLE THEM.......lol

    Try using the Frying Pan      ======\_________/      on their forehead.......lol

    not that I am promoting violence but I Have 2 young daughters that print every Hanna Montana Picture they can find...I hear your pain.

  2. open up windows explorer. Tools>folder options>View scroll to the bottom uncheck use simplie file sharing.

    Right click the printer. goto sharing.share the printer. click on the security tab and set the permissions as you'd like.

    all this you can do by making your and your mom's account password protected and making a guest accounts for guests.
