Password to log onto mac? (See Details!)?

Okay, so my brother always uses my laptop without my permission. So, is there a way when I first turn it on for there to require a password, so only I can log in? I just need a way to set a password when I first hit the power button. Kay. thanks.

Sorry I might not be able to help because I have HP computer. But Im sure that there definately a way to set a password after you hit the power button.

There is definately, definately a way.

If you go into the System Preferences and then the User Accounts, you can set and change the password for your account.
