Past Stanley Cup winners betting on Los Angeles Kings for a repeat -NHL Update
Bringing their championship winning roster has made the Los Angeles Kings one of the most favourite teams of past Stanley Cup back-to-back winners for a repeat next National Hockey League (NHL) regular season and playoffs.
They might not be topping their Western Conference, but certainly have the potential to do so with a confident team looking to continue with the same momentum they had hoisting up the cup for the first time in franchise history.
Bryan Trottier, is one of those players who has the experience to talk about why he thinks the Kings have the potential to become repeating champions. Having won the Stanley Cup six times with the New York Islanders and Pittsburgh Penguins, he is also one
of the few to having won it back-to-back.
"I think their chances are very good. It's becoming tougher and tougher [to repeat]. You need to try to avoid the hangover of the celebration. They're the champions and someone's got to knock them off the hill," said Bryan Trottier, according to NHL.com."I
know our first [Islanders] championship; we weren't the best team in the League during the season. But the next year, everyone was ready for us and prepared for us. We had to show up and we had to earn our stripes."
The biggest difference  between the 2010 Stanley Cup winners, Chicago Blackhawks and Boston Bruins, who won it the following year, and the Los Angeles team is that the Kings have managed to keep the entire roster that took home the cup this year. Blackhawks
and Bruins lost a lot of key components whether in goaltending, offensively or in the defensive department, but Kings have kept it running and well.
"The Kings have positioned themselves well cap-wise, they've got the players," Larry Murphy told NHL.com. "They've got the opportunity."
Now, only time will tell whether the Kings will actually repeat or not, but by the looks of it, the possibility can definitely not be ruled out in any case. If they continue to move with the same momentum, seeing a repeat would not be as hard to imagine
as it is now.
