Pastor Maldonado: Williams need to improve performance in upcoming Japanese GP – Formula 1
Williams’ driver Pastor Maldonado has said that his team needs to improve their performance for the rest of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Maldonado talked to the media and mentioned that they need to push hard in the upcoming Japanese Grand Prix and must score some points for their best possible ending in the championship battle.
The Venezuelan driver also mentioned that he is sure there will be a good experience for him at the Suzuka circuit during the Grand Prix, which is scheduled to be held on October 9, 2011 in Japan.
The Grove-based outfit driver also discussed about the upcoming event circuit. He stated that Suzuka is a fantastic combination of corners and the circuit’s first sector looks quite tough.
Talking to reporters, Maldonado commented, “It will be a good experience for me as I think it is one of the most important circuits of the season. It is a historical track that hasn't changed much over the years, so it will be really exciting to drive on.”
He added, “I think it will become one of my favourite tracks as it is quite quick and I like tracks like that. I've never been to Japan before so I'm looking forward to getting to know the country. We need to push hard this weekend to try and improve on
our last result.”
The 26-year-old driver has been unable to score decent points for his team in the ongoing season so far. He had a good race weekend in Belgium, where he successfully scored a single point for Williams after struggling with his FW33 car.
Maldonado is still not able to finish his race under the top ten positions since the 2011 Belgium Grand Prix. In the 2011 Singapore race weekend, he tried to make improvements in terms of performance and after battling it out with their competitors, he came
at the 11th position in the final race classifications.
After completing 14 rounds of the 2011 F1 season, Maldonado is placed at the 19th position with only a single point in the drivers’ championship.
Let’s see how he manages his 2011 Japanese Grand Prix at the Suzuka circuit this weekend following his 11th position in Singapore.
