Pastor Maldonado aiming at more victories in 2012 Formula 1 season – Formula 1 news
Williams’ driver Pastor Maldonado has said that they are capable of winning more races in 2012 Formula 1 season ahead while he said that they have the potential to challenge any other contender.
Maldonado took his maiden victory in 2012 Spanish Grand Prix and gave a ray of hope to the British team which has not been able to win any race since 2004.
He is currently standing at ninth position in the drivers’ championship with 29 points. Furthermore, he is 7 points ahead of Sergio Perez of Sauber-Ferrari and 6 points behind Romain Grosjean of Lotus.
On the other hand, Williams are presently at 6th place in the constructor’s standings with 43 points and they are 2 points ahead of Sauber.
The Venezuelan driver said that at present, they are not the best contenders. Nevertheless, he said that they can make themselves more competitive for the races ahead with few improvements in their car. He added that they can challenge any other team if
they keep on working hard.
In addition, he said that they are positively looking forward to perform well in the approaching races as they believe that they can take more victories.
“We are not the best team at the moment. The car looked pretty good today, but I think we need to keep pushing some particulars at Williams, especially in the car, but everything is possible. The gaps are so close, I'm driving well, I have a good feeling
with the team, so everything is possible. For sure we are looking to do our best, looking forward to winning some races, to getting a couple more podiums and I'm really happy because the team hasn't won many races for many years so this is a great moment for
us,” he said.
Over and above, he said that they need to keep on striving at their best so as to make the substantial developments and the necessary preparations in the car to improve its pace for the season ahead. Besides, he said that they are targeting to secure at
a competitive position in this year’s championship fight.
