Pastor Maldonado aims to continue his aggressive driving style in 2013 – Formula 1 news
Williams’ driver Pastor Maldonado has said that he is not going to change his aggressive driving style in the 2013 Formula 1 season.
Maldonado claimed his maiden victory in the 2012 Spanish Grand Prix after securing his first ever pole position. Furthermore, he brought his team a marvellous win after a long time.
It will be important to mention that after winning the Spanish GP, he became the first ever Venezuelan driver to score a race win in F1.
However, he also caused many accidents because of his harsh driving style due to which he had to face many penalties during the last season.
Even though, he faced immense criticism over his aggressive driving style in the preceding season. Nonetheless, he has asserted that he is not going to change his style in the future. In addition, he said that he is looking forward to improve his skills
in this year.
“Every time I walk down a hallway in my house and I see everything I've got from that style I think I should continue on this path,” said the Venezuelan. “Yes, I've had run-ins with other drivers, not only now but in the past. But that led me to win each
of the categories where I competed. It gives me strength to keep going because you can always improve.”
It will be important to note that Maldonado’s teammate, Bruno Senna, who also struggled with his pace in 2012, could not secure his race seat for this season and has been replaced by Valtteri Bottas who has been Williams’ reserve driver.
Bottas also took part in the Young Driver Test and impressed everyone with his tremendous performance. Additionally, he also replaced Senna in many free practice sessions during the last season and received a lot of appreciation.
The competition is expected to be even tougher in this season. Nonetheless, the Grove based squad are targeting to make the most out of the winter testing. Let’s see how they perform in this season and whether Maldonado and his new teammate, Bottas will
be able to come up to their expectations or not.
