Pastor Maldonado believes Williams can win again in 2013 – Formula 1 news
Williams’ driver Pastor Maldonado has said that they have got the potential to win a race again in the 2013 Formula 1 season.
Maldonado performed incredibly well in the 2012 Spanish Grand Prix and claimed his maiden victory after securing his first even pole position. In addition, he became the first ever Venezuelan driver to win a race in F1. Besides, he brought his team some
great moments of joy after quite a long time.
However, he and his old teammate, Bruno Senna could not score points with consistency and struggle in most of the races. Furthermore, they faced immense criticism because of their harsh driving style due to which they had to face some penalties too.
Nevertheless, despite facing problems in the preceding season, the Venezuelan driver has said that they are positively looking forward to perform well in this year’s championship.
Moreover, he said that they are targeting to compete well with their rivals in this season to secure better position in the championship fight. He also asserted that they are in a very good position as compared to last year and can surely claim victories
in this year.
Additionally, he expressed that they are aiming to make the essential developments in their car so as to come up stronger in this season.
“We are fighting with mega teams and maybe we don't have everything to be winning the championships, but I think we are going to win some races and we can be very competitive,” he told ESPN in an exclusive interview. “I don't know if we can be at a very
high level all through the year, but we are doing our best with the tools we have in the factory to do a good car.”
He also said that they are working to resolve the issues which they faced in the previous year and are hoping to show up with a more reliable and competent car in this season.
“We did race simulation, and yes there was big degradation, but not too bad. For sure it can make even easier for us the situation in the championship,” he added.
