Pastor Maldonado believes he has learnt from his mistakes – Formula 1 news
Pastor Maldonado believes that he has been learning a lot from his mistakes in the current season and has vowed to improve in that area for the remainder of the season.
The Venezuelan driver was able to achieve his maiden victory in the 2012 season as he went on to win the Spanish Grand Prix. The driver has since shown hot and cold performances in the season. He has been tagged as a wild driver who cares little about the
safety of driving in Formula 1.
He has been involved a few altercations in the season already and the last one was at the British Grand Prix where he collided with Sauber driver Sergio Perez. The Mexican was very frustrated with the collision and blamed Maldonado for the incident. The
stewards also felt that the fault was Maldonado’s and penalised him with a time penalty of 20 seconds for the race.
He also clashed with Lewis Hamilton at Valencia which was another incident that was penalised the stewards gave him a 10 second penalty in the race.
Those incidents have made other drivers feel that the Venezuelan is a dangerous driver and feel agitated if he is behind them in the race. Yet Maldonado’s feels that he was not at fault entirely in the incidents. He however did say that he is looking to
change some of his driving behaviour in order to minimise the risks involved.
He added that he was just defending his position during the British GP incident and was on the inside part of the corner.
“I'd just come out of the pits, I had more angle to turn in that corner than Perez and I didn't expect to lose the car because I found immediately as I left the pits good grip in slow corners and this corner was much quicker than the slow ones,” he said.
“For sure I've learned a little bit from my mistakes,” he said. “Silverstone was not a mistake ... I lost the car so it could happen to all the drivers. For sure I will try not to repeat that again and be more consistent and score some more points.”
