Pastor Maldonado collides during show run in Caracas – Formula 1 news
Williams’ driver Pastor Maldonado has collided during the show run in Caracas, Venezuela and faced embarrassment in front of his home crowd.
Maldonado became an iconic athlete of his homeland after he took his maiden victory in the Spanish Grand Prix which was held at Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona as he was the first ever Venezuelan driver who scored a win in F1. Conversely, he has been struggling
with his form as he could not score even a single point after the Spanish GP.
Although, he was planned to complete 12 laps at Los Proceres, Caracas which is the most famous national monument in the capital, however, he had a crash during the second circuit and all the demo run came to an end.
It will be important to mention he was feeling very much pleased to drive the car in his motherland and was extremely excited about it. He said that he is proud of his country and expressed that he has always got an amazing love and support from his fans.
Moreover, he said that the trip might rebuild his confidence in the game and he expected to come up stronger after the summer holidays.
“I'm a proud Venezuelan and I can't wait to return home on the back of my win earlier this season at the Spanish Grand Prix. I have always received lots of support from my fellow countrymen and this trip is an opportunity to give something back to those
in Venezuela who have helped me get to where I am today,” he said.
Besides, Williams’ team owner, Sir Frank Williams also said that they have received a very warm welcome in Maldonado’s country and they are very much delighted to see the fan following.
"We receive fantastic support there," Williams said. "With the various events planned this is our chance to bring the excitement of Formula One closer to the fans and thank those who continue to support us.''
Contrarily, nothing happened as the British team expected and they had to suffer some immense discomfiture. Let’s see how they show up after the August break in the remaining nine races.
