Pastor Maldonado feels disappointed with his performance in Belgian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Williams’ driver Pastor Maldonado has said that he is very much disappointed with his performance in the 2012 Belgian Grand Prix in which he was retired due to his mistake and could not pocket any points.
Maldonado performed exceptionally well in the qualifying of the Belgian GP and secured third grid position after making his way into the final session. Conversely, he could not keep his qualifying form into the race and was retired after his collision with
Timo Glock of Marussia.
Moreover, he said that he is feeling very upset over his uncompetitive performance in the preceding race. Nevertheless, he said that he is positively looking forward to attain better results in the Italian GP which is going to be held at Autodromo de Monza.
“I made a slight mistake at start because the clutch slipped out of my hands before the red light switched off,” Maldonado explained. “We then got caught up in the first corner incident and that compromised our race. I'm disappointed because we could have
scored some good points here, but it's not long until next race so we're looking forward now.”
Furthermore, the Venezuelan driver will face two five-place grid penalties in the forthcoming race due to his jump in the start and his accident with Glock.
On the other hand, his teammate, Bruno Senna also struggled with his pace during the race and could not score any points as he came 12th in the charts.
Nevertheless, the chief operations engineer of Williams, Mark Gillan has said that they are not feeling disturbed over their incompetent form in the last race and are aiming to fight back in the approaching races.
“The weekend promised a lot so to come away with no points is disappointing,” he said. “We are aiming to get both cars home in points and provided we have trouble free weekend there are no reasons why this cannot be achieved.”
In addition, he said that they are happy with the qualifying performance of Maldonado are targeting to carry on the same pace in the remaining season so as to start the races from the higher grid slots to achieve better place in the championship battle.
