Pastor Maldonado feels positive about last two races of 2012 – Formula 1 news
Williams’ driver Pastor Maldonado is feeling positive about the last two races of the 2012 Formula 1 season and is targeting to attain competitive points for his team.
Maldonado performed convincingly well in the qualifying of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and secured third grid slot. Afterwards, he had a good start but failed to secure a podium finish because of an issue in his KERS. Nevertheless, he successfully secured fifth
place finish and managed to score reasonable points for his team.
On the other hand, his teammate, Bruno Senna also showed an admirable performance in the last race and scored good points for the team.
Even though, the Venezuelan driver has faced a lot of criticism over his belligerent driving style in the season so far and has struggled in most of the races. However, he is not feeling disappointed over his poor performances and is confidently eying to
achieve more in the last two rounds of the current season.
The 27-year-old said that he is expecting a strong competition from Red Bull Racing and McLaren in the forthcoming races, but insisted that he will still try his best to go for a win.
“Red Bull is quite strong and even McLaren at the moment, but anything can happen,” he told ESPN when asked if another win this season is possible.”
In addition, he said that their aim is to secure competitive results in the final two races for which they are trying very hard to make the essential step-ups in their car.
“Our objective is to put the car in the top ten and as close to the podium as we can. Our car is very consistent and quick during the races and the further we start up the grid the better it is for us,” he added. “We are working so hard and we show everyone
that we are back again to be very strong with two cars in the points - it's very positive.”
It will be exciting to see how the Grove based team performs in the last two grands prix of the ongoing season.
