Pastor Maldonado needs to learn from his mistakes
Williams’ driver Pastor Maldonado has surely got some amazing talent and skills but he has only been able to score points in two grands prix in the 2012 Formula 1 season so far which implies that he really needs to learn from his mistakes.
At present, he is standing at 11th position with 29 points along with the seven-time world champion, Michael Schumacher of Mercedes. Moreover, he is ahead of Paul di Resta of Force India and is behind Kamui Kobayashi of Sauber.
He faced difficulties in the first two races and could not score even a single point. Nonetheless, he performed reasonably well in the third race and secured 8th place finish after taking a start from 13th grid position.
Conversely, he could not pocket any point in the Bahrain GP as he was retired. However, he made an amazing comeback in the fifth race and claimed his first ever pole position leading to his maiden victory.
Furthermore, it will be important to mention that after scoring win at Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, he became the first ever Venezuelan driver to claim a grand prix victory.
Contrarily, he could not be able to score even a single point after the Spanish GP. Even though, he performed quite convincingly in the qualifying of the European GP in which he secured 3rd grid slot, however, he struggled during the race and
could only came 12th in the charts.
Later, in the British GP, although he qualified for 7th grid position but he could not pocket any points. Afterwards, he performed reasonably well during the qualifying of German GP and secured fifth place in the grid but again struggled during
the race and came 15th.
Over and above, in the Hungarian GP, he could only secure 13th place finish after setting off from 8th grid position.
The Venezuelan driver seemed quite comfortable behind the wheel of his car during the qualifying of most of races, however, he could not achieve the desired results on the race days.
Nonetheless, he is not feeling disappointed over his uncompetitive form in the last 6 grands prix and is positively looking forward to perform well in the remaining nine races after the mid-season break.
He admitted that they lacked consistency after the Spanish GP and made few mistakes due to which they suffered in the races afterwards. Nevertheless, he insisted that they must make the necessary improvements and should take learning from the past errors
in order to score some reasonable points in the season ahead so as to secure a competitive place in this year’s constructors’ standings.
“I think for sure we've not been consistent,” he said. “At beginning I made couple of mistakes, like in Australia when I was sixth I think and crashed on the last lap. Before this season, though, after horrible year last year, we didn't expect to win. We've
been not always at top but near the top especially since Barcelona. I just need to be focused for the second part of season and keep our target for the car. We just need to recover, put everything together, and we haven't the last few races. We need to learn
from the mistakes.”
Let’s see whether he will be able to make a good comeback in the forthcoming races or not.
