Pastor Maldonado says he is still in pain after Monaco GP crash – Formula 1 news
Williams’ driver Pastor Maldonado has said that he has not completely recovered from the 2013 Monaco Grand Prix crash and his body is still in pain.
Maldonado had a collision with Max Chilton of Marussia because of which the race in Monte Carlo was stopped on 46th lap. Even though, he came out of the car by himself. However, he had a small cut on his arm and some heavy bruises on his body at several
places.
The Venezuelan driver has said that he is still feeling pain in his body and is hoping to recover before the next race which is going to be held at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada on June 9, 2013.
“My body still hurts but it's not a problem,” said the Williams driver. “As soon as I knew I was OK I was thinking already of Montreal.”
“He said I was coming across on him,” said Chilton. “I said if I did, I'm sorry. It wasn't intentional.”
It will be important to mention that he has not been able to score even a single point in the season until now. But Williams’ deputy team principal, Claire Williams has expressed full confidence on their driver’s abilities.
“Of course Pastor has expectations. He has tasted winning and of course wants more of it. I think it must be frustrating to see your peers winning and not having the equipment to demonstrate your talents. Pastor knows that we are fighting and that one day
we will give him the car that he wants,” she said.
It is to be noted that the 28-year-old performed convincingly well in the preceding season and managed to secure 15th place in the drivers’ championship with 45 points. Besides, he remained ahead of his old teammate, Bruno Senna and behind his major rival,
Paul di Resta of Force India.
Additionally, he impressed everyone with his incredible pace in the previous year’s Spanish GP in which he took his maiden victory after securing his first ever pole position. But, he has not been able to show any admirable performance in this season so
far.
Let’s see how he performs in the approaching races and whether he will be able to come up to the expectations of his team or not.
