Pastor Maldonado says he wants to stay at Williams in 2013 – Formula 1 news
Williams’ driver, Pastor Maldonado has said that he wants to stay at his current team in 2013 despite asserting that he has options to join other teams during the last weekend in Japan.
Maldonado expressed few days ago that there are chances that he may move to another team in the coming year. However, he has now shown the desire to remain in the British squad for the next season.
The Venezuelan driver said that the Grove based team is making improvements day by day and they are hoping to come up stronger in the next year. Furthermore, he said that they are trying their best to keep on making the essential developments in their car
so as to enhance its pace in the remainder of the season.
Moreover, he asserted that presently nothing can be said for sure as he is still negotiating with his team regarding the next year’s contract.
“To be honest I really want to stay in Williams because it's a good team,” Maldonado said. “The team is getting better and better every day, we've been rebuilding everything in the team and now I think it's more compact. The car is looking better and better
every day so good confidence with them, but at the moment there is no confirmation so I am looking forward to seeing that, otherwise I'm looking forward to remaining in Formula One, for sure.”
In addition, he said that he is aiming to perform well with improved car in the remaining five races of the current season to secure a good position in this year’s championship.
“I hope to have a competitive car, and a part of that is to especially be quite competitive in qualifying,” he added.
It will be important to mention that the executive director of Williams, Toto Wolff said that they may replace one of their drivers, Maldonado or Bruno Senna with their reserve driver, Valtteri Bottas who has impressed everyone with his excellent performance
in the Young Driver Test. However, the founder and team principal, Frank Williams said that they are hoping to keep the 27-year-old in their in the coming season.
