Pastor Maldonado says he will attain points in the remainder of the season – Formula 1 news
Pastor Maldonado of team Williams says that he is confident that he will be able to make up for the points he has missed in the first half of the current 2012 Formula 1 season.
He said that there are still nine races left in the current season and he is optimistic that he will be able to score some more points which would result as a recovery. He added that he will be trying to perform his best in the remainder of the season.
Maldonado told Autosport.com, “There are still nine races to go, which is quite a lot, so we have time to recover. I will do my best in the second half of the season to recover the loss and will never back off.”
Furthermore, he said that they need points and they also want to improve their performance which is only possible if they learn from their mistakes. He added that he tries to learn and improve every time he goes to the circuit.
“We need more points and we need to improve and learn from the mistakes. Every time I go on track, I try to learn and constantly improve. That is my approach,” he said.
He said that there are several reasons behind his poor performances however, he has been able to prove himself in the qualifiers by making it among the top ten drivers in the last 4 grands prix. It was during the same races in which the Venezuelan driver
was penalised thrice by the race stewards.
Furthermore, he said that when one performs well on the circuit, people support you and when it is the other way round, people oppose you.
In the current season, the Venezuelan driver has been unable to score any point except in China and Barcelona. With 29 points in total, he holds 11th place in the drivers’ championship.
The Formula 1 fraternity is on a one-month break in the month of August and will return with the Belgian Grand Prix at the end of the month. Let’s see to what an extent he improves when he returns from the break.
