Pastor Maldonado wants to stay at Williams in 2013 – Formula 1 news
Williams’ driver Pastor Maldonado has said that his first priority will be to stay at his current team in the 2013 Formula 1 season.
Maldonado said that his race seat in the Grove based team is under doubt in the next season. Nonetheless, he insisted that he is hoping to continue his career in the sport with Williams.
The Venezuelan driver is taking part in his second season with the British team. Moreover, it will be important to mention that he has received a lot of criticism over his rough driving in the first half of the season.
Although, he took his maiden victory in the Spanish Grand Prix after claiming his first ever pole position and brought his team a race win after quite a long time. Furthermore, he attracted significant sponsorship from a Venezuelan oil company named as PDVSA.
However, he has asserted that his race seat is still not confirmed in his team in the coming year and said that anything can happen in the future.
"Am I confident [I will stay]? You never know here in Formula One," he said. "But I think I'm doing quite well and have put the team back at the top, especially after last year. I have a lot of confidence in the people here, I like the people, but we will
see. Anything can happen."
In addition, he said that he has full faith in his team and he anticipates a brighter future for it in the coming years. He also said that his aim is to win a championship title with Williams before he leaves them in the years ahead.
"From my point of view, yes. I'm confident in the team, this team has a lot of future, it's improving every time, and I would like to win the championship here before I leave," he added.
Besides, he said that they are trying their best to keep on enhancing the pace of their car in the upcoming races and are confidently looking forward to score reasonable points in the Belgian GP which is going to be held at one of the most special circuits
in the history of F1, Spa-Francorchamps.
