Pastor Maldonado wants to win championship title with Williams – Formula 1 news
Williams’ driver Pastor Maldonado has said that he wants to win the Formula 1 World Championship with his team and earnestly hopes to continue his career with the Grove based team after this season.
Maldonado scored an incredible win in the Spanish Grand Prix which was held at Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona after he claimed his first ever pole position. Moreover, after winning the Spanish GP, he became the first ever Venezuelan driver to claim victory
in a race in F1.
Furthermore, in the Chinese GP which was held at Shanghai International Circuit, he secured 8th place finish and scored 4 points. Conversely, he has not been able to pocket any points in the remaining races as he has been seen struggling with
finding his true race pace. Additionally, he has retired in two of the first eleven races.
Nevertheless, he is not feeling disappointed with his poor performance in the season until now and is positively looking forward to be with his team beyond this season. In addition, he has said that he is aiming to win the championship title with the British
team in the future.
“I would, without doubt, stay there a while, a year at least,” Maldonado is quoted as saying by AS. “Before leaving Williams I would like to win the championship with them. I would give the opportunity for this great team - that gave me the opportunity for
me to get on the F1 grid for the first time - to win a world championship.”
However, he also said that he is not closing his options about his future and will definitely consider the offers from other teams.
“In F1 you never know what might happen ... there are enough teams on the grid,” he said.
Besides, he said that they are trying their best to improve their performance in the races ahead. He also said that they have decided to launch some major updates in the approaching races and will surely come up stronger after the August break.
Over and above, it will be very interesting to see how the Venezuelan driver will perform in the remaining nine races after the ongoing mid-season break.
