The injured Australian pace sensation, Patrick Cummins is eager to get back to action and form a formidable new ball pair with the promising young speedster, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Pattinson-c1653.
The 18-year-old right arm fast bowler, who picked up seven wickets in his debut Test match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 last month, sustained a heel injury during the same match that has ruled him out of action since then.
He missed the two-match home Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 last week. He has not been included for the second Test against India, starting in Sydney on Tuesday,
January 3, 2012 either.
After watching Pattinson’s bowling closely, Cummins has observed that he and Pattinson have an attacking approach to bowling, and he is hopeful that both of them will make a fearsome bowling duo for the national side in the future.
"Not only is he (Pattinson) bowling quick and swinging the ball but he's really intimidating the batsmen," Cummins was quoted as saying by a leading Australian daily.
Cummins said that being the young guns in the team, both of them spent quite a lot of time together when on tour or in the camps. The teenager added that though he had played a couple of One Day Internationals and Twenty20s with his sturdy friend from Dandenong,
he has never opened bowling with him and is keen to do so.
"We probably have similar game plans in that respect. To be able to bowl at the same time would be an exciting prospect. I've played a couple of one-dayers with 'Patto' and a couple of Twenty20s, but never opened the bowling with him. It'd be really exciting
to be down the other end to him," he added further.
Sheer pace of Cummins, Pattinson and Siddle makes the Aussies bowling line-up fearsomely fast, with these bowlers regularly reaching 140 kmph.
"I think it's really nice to be able to bowl that quick," said Cummins. "In most situations, it puts yourself in the best position to get a wicket."
The pacers did extremely well in the Boxing Day Test against India picking up 19 out of the 20 Indian wickets at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. With the curators promising a fast bowling friendly Sydney track for the second Test, one can expect the Aussie
pacers dominating the game once again.
