Australia’s teenage fast bowler Pat Cummins has said that he will not take things lightly despite making an impressive debut against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in the second Test of the two match series at the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
The 18-year-old picked up seven wickets in the match including a six-for in the Proteas’ second outing.
Although many believe that the youngster has done more than enough to cement his place for the home series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 possess in the bowling department.
Cummins came into the side in place of injured pacer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RJ-Harris-c2330, who flew back home before the start of the second Test.
Harris was almost certain to play the match and veteran pacer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MG-Johnson-c1945 was expected to be dropped from the playing eleven, considering his poor bowling form in recent times.
However, the Aussie bowlers did a decent job in the final Test against South Africa and it might be difficult for the selectors to decide their bowling attack once http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harris-c61739 returns to the side.
Cummins realises this fact and wished luck to his injured team-mate saying, “Ryan Harris has gone home, hopefully he's got his injury right and he'll be good to go in Brisbane, I'll just leave it up to the selectors.”
The young pacer further added that making his debut away from home has helped him in a certain way.
The teenager stated, “I guess you're removed from some of the pressures of Australia and the attention you get over there. That's helped, and also having a team that I'm pretty familiar with. I've been here for almost a month and a half, so hanging round with the same bunch of guys has started to get a bit more familiar I guess.”
Australia require another 168 runs for victory with seven wickets remaining on the final day’s play of the Wanderers Test. The team will be hopeful of achieving the target and levelling the series by 1-1.
In case of a victory for the Kangaroos, it is likely that Cummins gets the man of the match award for his excellent bowling in the match.
However, the youngster will have to keep his fingers crossed, as anything can happen on the final day.
