Pat Fry: F150° Italia third fastest car of 2011 F1 season at the moment – Formula 1 news
Ferrari technical director Pat Fry has said that the F150° Italia is the third fastest car of the 2011 Formula 1 season at the moment.
Fry added that they are still working hard on their car and making it better for the rest of the ongoing season.
The Maranello-based outfit is fighting for its best possible finish in the 2011 championship battle since the last few races of the ongoing season.
The team is at the third position with 268 points in the constructors’ championship after taking part in 14 rounds of the season so far.
Fry discussed the upcoming Japanese Grand Prix and mentioned that they have to do a lot of struggle in order to win at the Suzuka circuit, as they did in the 2011 Silverstone race weekend.
Suzuka and Silverstone circuits have quite similar characteristics. However, Fry stated that the Silverstone race weekend was interesting for the team, so he believes the Japanese Grand Prix will be interesting for them.
Fry commented, “I think that was down to the nature of the different tracks. If you go to a circuit with long, high-speed corners where you load the tyres very hard, our car is quite easy on the tyres and we don't blister the tyres or create the temperature
inside the tyre to make it blister.”
He went on to mention, “In Singapore the tyre issues are not blistering or anything like that, the bulk temperature of the tyre is quite cold. But the surface temperature is very high, so the nature of this track does not suit us, whereas you have seen us
look better in the past.”
Apart from that, Fry discussed the 2011 Singapore Grand Prix and added that both of the drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa suffered with high tyre degradation during the race at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, which was totally unexpected.
Alonso was at the fourth position in the 2011 Singapore race, while his teammate Massa came at the ninth place in the final race classifications.
Let’s see how both of them perform in the rest of the 2011 F1 season following the Singapore race results.
