Pat Fry says Felipe Massa’s crash can be attributed to car issue – Formula 1 news
Ferrari technical director, Pat Fry has said that their driver, Felipe Massa’s crash in the 2013 Monaco Grand Prix can be attributed to a problem in his car’s front left corner.
Massa’s collision at Ste Devote during the third practice session was deemed as driver error after which he couldn’t participate in the qualifying. Resultantly, he started the race from 21st grid position and suffered with the same crash on Sunday.
Fry said that he is very much pleased that the Brazilian driver is fine. In addition, he said that although it seemed that the 32-year-old faced a same accident in the race as he did in FP3. However, he asserted that both the incidents are quite different
from each other and expressed that the second collision was caused due to an issue in the car.
“First and foremost, I'm pleased that Felipe is okay,” Fry said. “Today's accident looked very similar to what happened in the third free practice session, but in fact the two incidents are very different. Unlike yesterday, it seems that today's incident
can be attributed to a problem on the left front corner of the car.”
Even though, Massa felt slight pain in his neck after the accident. Nevertheless, he said that he is not feeling upset over the incident in the last race and is confidently looking forward to attain good points in the season ahead.
“I was taken to hospital for all the precautionary checks and luckily everything is in order,” Massa said. “All I want to do is put this bad weekend behind me and think about doing well in the rest of the season.”
Presently, he is standing at 7th place in the drivers’ championship with 45 points. Besides, he is ahead of Paul di Resta of Force India and behind his main rival, Nico Rosberg of Mercedes. He has taken a strong start to this season as compared to the preceding
one in which he struggled a lot with his pace.
Let’s see how he performs in the Canadian GP and whether he will be able to come up to the expectations of his team or not.
