Australia’s Team Performance Manager, Pat Howard, wants the rookie pacer, Ryan http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harris-c61739, to gain complete fitness before returning to the 5-day format of the game so he can be an asset for the Aussies.
The Manager reveals that the Cricket Australia’s (CA) medical staff is working hard on Harris’s fitness so that he gets ready for the longer format as soon as possible. Howard opines that bringing the pacer back in haste will prove to be harmful for his
body and for the team as well.
Talking to the media, he said, “The medical team are working particularly hard with a mandate to try to get him back to produce a really good five-day outcome. We've said put in all the physio we can, be very active with that and medical services to get
him back to 100 per cent, rather than try to put him out at 80 per cent.”
He further told, “We know we could rush him back quickly and get him bowling for two or three days and that doesn't really help him in the long-term or Australian cricket, so we're really looking at how do we get Ryan back to play at his best for five days.”
Some cricket analysts predict that Harris may miss the remaining 2011 season and the next summer as well. It is due to the fact that the selectors have got a bunch of young fast bowlers including Pat Cummins, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mitchell-Aaron-Starc-c76392, who have
proved their capabilities on the field in recent Test fixtures.

Harris, who made his International debut in 2009, has played just 8 Test, 17 ODI and 3 T20I matches so far. Though his bowling average and economy rate have been outstanding in all three formats, the team, at this stage of transition, cannot afford to wait
long for a player whose alternatives are easily available.
