Australian team performance manager, Pat Howard, expressed his disappointed after learning that teenage fast bowler, Pat Cummins, will miss his second consecutive home summer due to a back injury.
His frustration stemmed from the fact that the 19-year-old played through the injury barrier for his club franchise, Sydney Sixers, during the recently concluded Champions League T20, an event already criticized by the Aussie management for hindering the team’s preparation for the upcoming home summer.
Cummins missed the best part of six months since making an instant impact in the longer version last year. His only Test performance was highly impressive, where he picked seven South African wickets, and further earned the Player of the Match award.
However, he suffered a foot injury during that game, and did not return to international action until July this year, only to suffer a side strain on the ODI trip to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, before donning the victorious Sydney Sixers shirt in the CLT20.
He however, returned home with a back pain and upon examination, it was revealed by team physio, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, in addition to taking on the South Africans in the imminent three-match Test series.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Watson-c2558’s CL T20 stint, was disappointed by the Sixers’ coaching staff after they failed to report the injury when it initially surfaced.
"We're obviously disappointed we didn't have the information as quickly as we should've," Howard told ESPNcricinfo. "But for the opportunity to sit down with Sixers management on that, there's a fair few other things going on. We know Pat's out, and we have to deal with that, that's life and you keep moving on. But we were disappointed with how that transpired."
Despite losing out on Cummins, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Pattinson-c1653, all in line to make the first Test against the Proteas, which starts from November 9.
