Well, I think I found my dad, but I want to do a paternity test. I know in-home paternity are cheaper, but are they accurate? Or you think is better to do it at a clinic?

  1. My husband and I used an in home test because I didn't believe the son he had before I had met him was actually his.  The mom was a horrible person and the child looked nothing like him.  I just had a sense it wasn't his baby.  We did an in home test which proved he was not the father.  I did a lot of research before we did this test to make sure we weren't just flushing our money down the toilet.  They call this test the peace of mind test.  People mostly use it when they have doubts about a child being theirs but don't want to fight with the mother if it actually is theirs.  This test is just as accurate as a "lab" test but, does not hold up in court because they can't prove who took the test.  For example-you swab some random persons mouth and say its not your baby.  The company sends you two envelopes with 6 "q tips" in each one.  You take the first one and swab the fathers mouth and seal the envelope.  You do the same thing to the child and place their swabs in a separate envelope.  I swabbed my husband and then the baby, we sealed the envelopes together and mailed them immediately so their could have been no contamination.  The hardest thing I had to do was tell him he was not the father.  His first instinct was that the test was wrong.  We called the company and they said the results were 99.99999 percent accurate.  Sorry for rambling but I just wanted to share my story with you.  Good luck and I hope everything works out for you.
