Veteran Scotland international, Chris Paterson, will start the team’s Six Nations opener against France at full-back in the absence of Toulon’s Rory Lamont, who has picked up an ankle injury. Lamont was tipped to have a big impact in the forthcoming champions, but he will now be forced to sit out of the opening match.

Fortunately, head coach Andy Robinson is able to call upon an experienced and proven international. Will the Scots still end up ruing Lamont’s absence?
