Patience key for uncapped http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Glenn-Maxwell-c60189 – Cricket News Update
As he looks to earn a baggy green cap in the coming days, Glenn Maxwell, the Australian all-rounder, spoke about his conversation with legendary spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shane-Keith-Warne-c89672 which focused primarily on bringing an element of patience to his game.
Maxwell was included in the squad for the final Test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746’s keenness on having multi-skilled players on board, who could ably contribute with both, bat and ball.
Though Maxwell’s credential as a bowler are largely untested, he has been on the selectors’ radar for quite some time as they look to find a suitable performer, alongside regular spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Robert-John-Inverarity-c85980, the national selection panel head, has already made it clear that he wants to see Maxwell in an all-round capacity, and not just merely a batsman. He has already made an impact with the bat in his debut series in UAE before an indifferent World T20 again raised doubts over his over-all development.
However, for Maxwell he has been learning the tricks from none other than the legendary Warny, his Big Bash teammate and Melbourne Stars’ skipper, but the focus is not just on bowling. It is on the need to develop patience, rather than always looking to force the play.
"It's a lot more about patience," Maxwell said. "I'm a cricketer who wants things to happen really quickly and want the game to keep moving forward. He talked a lot about batter manipulation, just simple little things like that. He has been great to work with, just to delve into the mind that is the best spin bowler we have ever produced."
However, Maxwell said he was keen to play to his strengths if he gets selected for the upcoming clash, which starts on January 3.
"It's the way I've been brought up, I've always played my natural game, it didn't really matter the situation," Maxwell said. "I feel if I back myself the best outcome will come out. I don't see that that's going to change if I get selected in Sydney."
