Patio homes...pros and cons?

Question

For those of you who live or have lived in a patio home, can you give me the pros and cons?

I am single and living alone in an apartment. I'm wanting to buy a patio home when I get my car paid off. I like the idea of living close to people "just in case" something happens. I figured patio homes have to be better than apartment life!

Patio homes are fine. I havent heard of many complaints from people who own them. The downside is that you are limited in reconfiguring any plumbing or wiring (ie.surround sound) and flooring changes like traditional hardwoods.  Im not sure if they more cost efficient than your traditional style homes but i assume they would be a little better.
