Patiphat Chalardchaleam, Nipitphon Puangpuapech surge into second round of Li Ning China Masters
Thailand’s Patiphat Chalardchaleam-Nipitphon Puangpuapech registered their class in their opening match of Li Ning China Masters and stamped Pranaav Jerry Chopra-Akshay Dewalkar on September 12, 2012.
This Men’s Doubles tussle kept both pairs head-to-head for 52 minutes before ending with 21-11, 17-21 and 21-18.
The victorious duo served notice of its supremacy in the opening and ending segments of the showdown whereas the opposing team could live its moment of glory only in the middle of the battle.
This win took Thai campaigners in the pre quarter-finals of this Super Series where they will be taking on Thien How Hoon-Wee Kiong Tan of Malaysia.
Patiphat and Nipitphon will surely utilise their confidence which they have earned through a splendid win in first round of the tournament.
In their opening match, they laid the foundation of their dominance by clinching the very first match point with a significant difference.
They launched a brisk attack and pushed their challengers on the back-foot with 4-1 total. This initial advantage helped them to place an indomitable margin of 11-6 before half time.
After mid-game break, Patiphat and Nipitphon widened the gap with 16-8 and then left the opposing team far behind with a notable lead in decisive figure of 21-11.
However, the Indian shuttlers did not lose heart after this blow and showed elevated craft in very next game to avoid a straight-set defeat.
This time Pranaav and Akshay started the beating from very first stroke and kept their competitors at the lower end all the way to game point situation.
They ruled the court in preliminary stage and established an unassailable lead with 6-3 score. They did not lose focus and enthralled the Thai campaigners with a flurry of power packed strokes.
This crucial segment of the showdown ended with Pranaav and Akshay reading a favourable result of 21-17.
The decider became consequential after this development and both contenders put all in their possession to secure a berth in the next round of the tournament.
They kept on chasing each other until final stage as neither of them could tip the scale in their favour until 16-16.
At this stage, Patiphat and Nipitphon displayed superior finishing skills and locked the honour with 21-18.
