Pato ready to face any team in last 16 round: UEFA Champions League news
A.C Milan striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alexandre-Pato-c4901, believes that his team is ready to face any side in the round of last 16.
Milan qualified for the next round before their last Champions’ League group stage game against Viktoria Plzen. The Italian Champions drew 2-2 against the Czech side and finished second in the group behind the European Champions,
Barcelona.
The Italian Champions will have to face any of the group stage winners according to the UEFA rules on group standings. Injury-prone striker, Pato, who made a goal-scoring return against Plzen, believes that his team is not worried
about facing any team and he believes that they have the quality to take on any side in the world.
After a promising start to the season, Milan lost their plot and saw http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 overtake them to top the group. The draws for the next round will take place in Nyon next week and Pato cannot wait for it.
Pato said, "Milan are always ready. We now have to wait and see who we'll get. I think that we have to think about ourselves, think about doing our best, but we can be a match for anyone.”
The Brazilian international revealed his frustration after his side squandered a two goal cushion to draw their final Champions League game against Plzen. Milan conceded in the 87th and the 90th minute of
the match and Pato admitted that the whole team is upset with the result.
The 22-year-old added that his team played wonderful football for major portions of the match but a slight loss in concentration denied them a victory.
"The chances came along in the second half, and we did well to score them, but we're disappointed not to have won as we played well. At half-time, the coach asked us to press more. We suddenly got two chances, and scored two goals,
but they didn't get us what we wanted as the draw was not the result we were looking for."
Since winning the 2006/07 UEFA Champions League, Milan have not gone beyond the last 16 round and Pato is confident that the team will perform much better this season.
