Patrice Bergeron’s level of injury still unknown
The two archrivals in the National Hockey League were out in the fourth game of the semi-final series to face each other and in the same situation as they were a year ago, Bruins was leading the series 3-0 but Flyers fought their way back into the series
and won Game 7.
However, this time things were totally different as Bruins managed to come up with an impressive win to clinch the series and book their spot in the Conference Finals. This was not easy as they had to suffer the loss of Bergeron during the game.
Claude Giroux of Philadelphia Flyers struck him with a huge shot that left him lying on ice.
He came up slowly which was alarming for Bruins’ management. Though Bruins will be immensely glad over the fact that they won the last game by 5-1 to secure a position in the Conference Finals, they would be anxious to know Bergeron’s condition.
Bergeron had the strength to make his way to the bench after which he was seen going to the dressing room. However, nobody caught sight of him after the game and his injury status is still unknown.
"I don't know", coach, Claude Julien, said. "I have no update for you guys right now. Basically, I can't give you anything more than that".
The players were also very concern about his condition as he has been one of the most productive players in the team.
He has bagged a total of 12 points during the postseason so far, only two behind the player who hit him from the back.
"I didn't see what happened", Boston’s goalie, Tim Thomas, said. "I knew he had the puck and I saw him make the pass and I didn't see anyone around him. I don't know if it was a late hit, or just a guy I didn't see. But when I saw him down, of course I was
worried".
Bergeron has always had problems of facing concussions that have resulted in him missing a number of games. He went off the ice at a time when the scores were level on 1-1.
Though his absence was felt at times, Bruins managed to score four goals to win the game 5-1.
"He's a big part of our team, but I think the guys did a good job keeping things in focus," forward Shawn Thornton said. "The guys have stepped up. (Gregory Campbell) stepped up and did a great job filling in on that line. (Daniel Paille) had a couple of
shifts, so I think by committee we did a good job finding a way to win that game."
Questions as to what Bergeron’s condition are still coming and no one has any answers at the moment. Without a doubt, his presence in the team can make a lot of difference for Bruins as they rely on him for their brilliance in offense.
