Patrice Evra delighted with Manchester United redeeming themselves against Manchester City
Manchester United defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrice-Evra-c29231 has gone on to express his delight after beating Manchester City in the Community Shield game.
The defender had admitted to be looking to redeem himself and United against City, following their defeat to their arch rivals in the FA Cup last season and it seems like the Red Devils have done just that.
When talking about the defeat to City in the FA Cup and the game last night, Evra is quoted to have said: “When you come back [to] Manchester, the City fans look like they won the World Cup. To win against City is always a great feeling.”
"I really enjoyed the game, the fans that came to watch the game, they are really happy. If every Community Shield can be like that everyone is going to be happy."
The game saw United go down by two goals to nil in the first half and despite dominating possession, it seemed like there was nothing that United could do to get back in the game.
Nonetheless, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson went on to motivate the team just enough to get them to turn the game completely around in the second half.
As soon as the second half kicked off, United went on to take the game to City and scored two goals. With the game nearing the end of the second half, it seemed like the match was going to head into overtime. However, with just seconds left on the clock,
Luis http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nani-c27299 broke free and scored a last minute, match winning goal, which ensured United victory in the game.
Evra then went on to talk about Ferguson and his motivational techniques at the half time break, as he added: "But we really deserved to win and the manager wasn’t angry at half-time. He just said ‘keep going and when we score one goal we’re going to [come]
back like the Man United way', and that’s what we did again.
The defender then went on to summarize City’s performance in one very brief sentence as he ended by stating: "They just shot twice on the target and they scored."
This win over City in the Community Shield is just what the Red Devils needed, in order to boost their spirits going into the coming season. United had a highly impressive pre season, but so far they had participated in freindlies.
With the Community Shield proving to be the first competitive game that the team played, it seems like they have just what it takes to go into the season and come out on top at the end of it.
