After seeing his side held to a 1-1 draw against stubborn England, the France left-back is expecting a better show of football when Les Bleus face the host nation, Ukraine
The Manchester United defender is expecting a tough test from Ukraine side which is currently sitting on top of Group D after registering a win over Sweden in their opening fixture of the tournament. Evra claimed that playing Ukraine at their home would
be a tough test for Laurent Blanc's side.
The 31-year-old defender was left frustrated after the England game that ended in a 1-1 draw. The France international was very critical of England’s negative tactics employed by Roy Hodgson, the new head coach of the Three Lions.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrice-Evra-c29231 claimed that France were expecting such tactics from England. The Senegal-born defender expressed his views over the defensive style of play England opted against Les Bleus.
First-choice left-back for France stated that this is how Roy Hodgson wants his teams to play both at the international level and domestic level.
“England were really strong and that is the way Roy Hodgson likes his teams to play. When he was at Fulham and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Switzerland-c3016; that was the way he set teams up and that is what we expected. We watched recent games and noticed that England were more organised.
They want to play like that. That was the tactic; that was the plan. They didn’t plan to go forward, to score a lot of goals, and in the end they got the draw.”
While talking to reporters, Evra stated that even though everyone is saying that the England-France game was the most important game of the group, the game against Ukraine holds more importance for Les Bleus.
Patrice Evra is hoping that unlike England, Ukraine will play more positive football and that will allow France to get more space and Les Bleus will play an attacking game.
On a question of England’s chances in the tournament, Evra refused to make any predictions. The France international claimed that the return of his Manchester United teammate http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736 will help Three Lions.
“Can England go far in the tournament? I don’t know. I will just say that they are difficult to beat. But having Rooney back will be good for them. He is a very important player for England.”
