Patricio Heras wins qualifier against Dario Acosta – Uruguay Open 2011 CH
Dario Acosta (Uruguay) played against Patricio Heras (Argentina) in the first round stage of the men’s qualifying competition at the 2011 Uruguay Open on November 12, 2011. Heras won the match 7-5, 6-0.
As the match began, neither of the two players were able to score any ace. Acosta, the local player, conceded a double fault once in the first set but had an 83% first serve winning ratio. Heras managed to secure a 72% winning
rate.
Both players were equal in terms of winning points on first serve. Acosta won 54% points from his first serve while his opponent won 58% points. The second serve points by both the players came out to be quote low as Acousta could
win only 43% points from his second serve while Heras won 50% points.
The Uruguayan, who is currently unranked in world rankings, enjoyed a decent run in the opener as he won five games. He was one game short of winning the set or taking it in a tiebreaker, however, he could not take the pressure
in the latter parts of the first set.
Heras, ranked at world number 454th spot, won five breakpoints out of the seven he faced while Acosta could save only four breakpoints out of the seven that he faced.
Standing by winning five games in the set, the local player could not win another game as Heras won the first set 7-5.
As the second set started, it was a nightmare for the 24-year old Acosta. The Argentinean made a flawless run in the second set when he saved all the three breakpoints that he faced.
He did concede a double fault once in the set and had a lower first serve winning ratio at 68% as compared to Acosta’s 75%, yet he was able to create a dominating lead in the set.
Heras won 74% points from his first serve while Acosta won 43% points. The Argentinean also had a higher winning ratio with his second serves as he won 36% points as compared to the 29% points secured by Acosta.
The Argentinean kept the second set in his control the moment it began. He did not deliver any ace but his service games kept him retain his momentum as he kept on winning the games while Acosta was unable to win any game.
Acosta, humiliated in front of his home crowd by the Argentinean, could not take any control of the second set.
The Uruguayan could only save two out of his five breakpoints and did not hold any of his service games. Heras won the second set 6-0 and sailed into the next round of the 2011 Uruguay Open.
