Patrick Cantlay back to UCLA, while rubbing hands for Riviera
World’s top-ranked golfer Patrick Cantlay has recently been awarded with Southern California Golf Association honour by Eddie Merrins at Virginia Country Club.
Merrins, who has been a long time pro, believes that the amateur golfer does have the potential and skill to play at the Masters event.
It is precisely because of this that Cantlay will be unveiling his talent at the Masters, U.S. Open.
Furthermore, his breakthrough launching of the campaign will be at Northern Trust Open, kicking off at Riviera this week.
Keeping the flames of expectation high, Cantlay is beginning to develop the approach of a likely superstar in golf.
"My goal is to win as many tournaments as possible," Cantlay said. "That's the goal every time I tee it up, no matter what".
Above all, his confidence skyrocketed after he got the opportunity to tee it off with the legendary golfer, Tiger Woods.
The two engaged in a practice session of the first two rounds at frys.com.
Experts believe that teeing it with a player like Woods in a friendly manner is quite different than playing with the player on a golf course.
Hence, for the amateur, Patrick Cantlay, Augusta National will definitely be a challenge for a lifetime.
However, for the 19-year-old golfer, it is more like a golfing session he plays every other week.
No doubt he is practicing hard for it, he is still trying not to overwhelm himself with the stature of the event.
He thinks he just might lose his grip on the game by doing this. It is important to mention that, at the age of 19, Cantaly has achieved that many golfers are still deprived of.
He has astounded all his critiques with his flawless shot selection and ingenious game play.
Moreover, he has never missed a shot when on a professional tournament. All these features collectively contribute in making him a perfect golf idol for days to come.
"My schedule has been busy, but I've been playing golf and going to school and travelling for golf since my junior year of high school," Cantlay said. "It's just what I do".
Apart from all these factors, he is also turning into an eye candy with the love of cameras deepening for him.
Once through with the Augusta National, he will definitely be among one of the most potential new comers in the golf industry.
