Patrick Corbin is little underrated, says Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Miguel Montero
The Arizona Diamondbacks’ pitching prospect Patrick Corbin has finally started giving the signals as he is all set to play his game this season with full energy. Currently playing in Arizona’s Cactus League in 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training, Patrick Corbin is performing wonderfully.
However, despite showing some glimpses of a champ, some of the senior players think that he is still underrated and so far nobody has recognised his game with utter confidence.
“I think he's a little underrated," said Diamondbacks’ catcher Montero. "Compared with the other guys in the team, they're all pretty good, and I have him up there with them."
Montero, who is considered one of the best behind the plate players, also knows how to motivate other players in order to gain more spirited performances from them. On Wednesday against the San Diego Padres, he saw an inexperienced player throwing so well that he never allowed any Padres’ players to play free.
Corbin pitched three scoreless innings impressing Montero for the first time since he joined the team in Spring Training. “I've never been the guy to be on the radar, really," Corbin said. "I'm kind of just coming in here and not expecting much and performing as well as I can. Things will kind of work themselves out, I've always said."
For Corbin, this will be a first full season with the Diamondbacks. Prior to this particularly season’s potential play with the Diamondbacks, he was traded from the Los Angeles Angels in 2010 while since then, has been viewed as pitching prospect for the franchise.
Experts and some inside sources of the Diamondbacks believe that Corbin has improved his game a lot and this is actually a possibility that he will be starting the season with the Arizona’s baseball franchise.
In the meanwhile and on contrary to Corbin’s potential play in the next season, the Diamondbacks on the other hand, are preparing for the season with full energy. The entire roster knows that the next season is going to be very tough for every MLB team and to perform well in the season they have to play as one unit.
