Patrick Cote: I will knockout Cung Le to be the best in the business – UFC News
Patrick Cote, the former UFC middleweight number one contender, in a recent media interaction said he is not going to enter the octagon with a strategic game plan in his mind. He added that he will knockout Cung Le to prove that he wants to remain in the
UFC roster.
Cote will enter the UFC octagon for the second time since 2010, when he was fired due to his underperformance. Since then, Cote has again earned the right to become a part of UFC’s middleweight division by grabbing four consecutive wins.
This will be Cote’s comeback bout and the Canadian is looking forward at building his UFC career again. Also known as ‘The Predator’, Patrick lost three consecutive bouts in UFC as a result Dana White, UFC President rescinded his contract and relieved him
from his position.
Patrick will enter the octagon for the 25th time in his career and as far as the mixed martial art resume is concerned, possesses a bit upper hand over his Saturday night opponent Cung Le.
Cote recently shared his thoughts in a pre-bout press conference and resolved that he will nail Cung as he wants to remain in UFC. Patrick stated, “It wasn't like they fired me because they didn't like me or something. They fired me because they had a business
to run and I lost three in a row. That's all. But I had to prove it – my place in the UFC – and that's what I did in my last four fights.”
While sharing his game plan for the bout, Cote stated, “I want to let him know that I'm going to be in his face, and I'm going there to fight. I'm not going there for a strategic fight. I'm going to knock him out, and that's it.”
The duo will meet on the fight card headlined by the middleweight title bout between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen. The event is being dubbed as UFC 148 and the octagon for the showdown will be set up at MGM Grand Garden Arena situated in Las Vegas, Nevada,
United States.
The show will be televised live on July 7, 2012. The bout between Cung and Patrick will be highly explosive as both have their own agenda and are in dire need of a win. Cung wants to grab his first UFC win at all cost whereas Cote wants to prove that his
resigning by the UFC management was a just decision.
