Patrick Cote regards Anderson Silva as the ‘new’ Bruce Lee – UFC News
We all know the legendary Bruce Lee who revamped the entire world of mixed martial arts. He was the one who created Jeet Kune Do fighting style long before mixed martial arts was considered a proper sport. Back in those days, boxing was the mainstream combat
sport but no more. Today, mixed martial arts has acquired enormous popularity, thanks to The Ultimate Fighting Championship for raising the stakes.
Patrick Cote, former opponent of UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva believes the Brazilian ‘Spider’ is the Bruce Lee of today’s world. According to Cote, nobody can tackle Silva in the ring because you cannot figure out what he would do next.
“It's very complicated to fight this guy because you never know what's going to happen or what he's going to do,” said Cote in a recent interview. “We saw what he did Saturday night. Once again he did something new. He was staying against the fence and he
was playing with Bonnar. Bonnar is no joke. Bonnar is a good fighter. He's tough. He's durable, and [Silva] was playing with him like a little kid. It's hard to explain how to fight him because if you go forward, he's behind you. You try to hit him, and he's
not there.”
Silva has fought every big gun in his division and has yet remained unbeaten. Chael Sonnen was his last victim, a fighter who many thought would defeat Silva for the first time but it did not happen. Silva went on with his unbeaten streak. He recently defeated
‘The American Psycho’ Stephan Bonnar past Saturday at UFC 153 in the very first round to establish his dominance at the light-heavyweight division as well.
Even President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Dana White believes Silva is the best mixed martial artist in the world and considering that, it can be easily said that Silva indeed is today’s Bruce Lee. The man is legendary and his unbeaten streak
adds more to his bag. According to Silva, he is getting old and he will soon be saying goodbye to the world of MMA. If Silva retires unbeaten, he surely will be the number one fighter of all times.
