Patrick Cote released from Ultimate Fighting Championship
On Wednesday, Patrick “The Predator” Cote was released from the Ultimate Fighting Championships mixed martial arts promotion.

Cote posted the following on his Twitter page: “I had a little hope but finally got the release word from the UFC. It’s been an awesome experience! I’ll be back!”
Cote’s loss this past Saturday to Tom Lawlor at UFC 121 marked his third consecutive defeat under the UFC banner.  Lawlor controlled Cote throughout the entire 15-minute fight, using a
combination of wrestling and striking to take the fight by a score of 30-27 on all three judges' scorecards.
Cote’s first run in the UFC began in October 2004 when he fought Tito Ortiz in Atlantic City. Cote took the fight on four days notice after Guy Mezger was forced to withdraw due to medical
concerns. Ortiz won that fight by unanimous decision.
Cote was 0-4 in the UFC before he faced Scott Smith in February 2007 at UFC 67. Cote secured a unanimous decision victory over Smith and then won his next three UFC battles.
The four fight-winning streak earned him a shot to face Anderson Silva for Silva’s middleweight title in October 2008. The Silva vs. Cote fight was the main event bout for UFC 90, in Rosemont
Illinois.
During the third round of the fight, Cote fell to the ground clutching his right knee in pain. Referee Herb Dean called an end to the fight when Cote was unable to continue and Silva was
awarded the victory.
After a lenghty rehab, Cote returned to the Octagon in May of this year to face Alan Belcher at UFC 113. Cote was getting the best of Belcher when he shot for a takedown that Belcher blocked.
Belcher then picked Cote up and slammed him face first to the mat. From there Belcher applied a rear-naked choke and Cote was forced to submit 3:25 into the second round.
Cote has fought with other promotions, such as, TKO Major League MMA, King of the Cage and Maximum Fighting Championships. He is unbeaten outside of the UFC and holds a mixed martial arts
record of 13-7.
