No one thinks cote will win or has a chance at winning, but that is stupid, sure silva is a great fighter but cote is not some prettyboy mma wannabe on "never back down", fighting is what he does 4 a job, he's been training mma longer than most people know what mma is so don't count him out cos its not like cote is going to be tied up to a chair or anything, he is free to hurt silva as much as silva is free to hurt cote, my prediction is cote to win by KO in 1st round, just like against kendell grove at UFC 74 respect, this is what cote had to say

"Everybody that fought Anderson Silva was scared of him; I'm not scared of him one bit," said Cote. "It's gonna take him 10 straight punches to take me down - I only need one punch to take him down. I'm Patrick Cote,

  1. it's good to have confidence but that doesn't mean ****...silva will beat cote

  2. Cote is an excellent striker. He has a very strong stand up game. The problem is, so does Silva. In addition to that, Silva also holds a Black Belt in BJJ.

Even just standing, Silva presents unique angles and it is very hard for an upcoming opponent to find someone with his fighting style to train with.

On the other hand Cote is pretty much a standard striker. He hits very hard, but there is very little movement or challenging angles presented in his attack. Silva will have no problem finding someone in his training camp to emulate Cote's style.

Anderson Silva will be prepared. The main difference between the 2 is the skill level on the ground. Cote is a fish out of water on the ground. With the Black Belt in BJJ, Silva is completely at home on the ground.

I know everyone is assuming the entire fight is going to be standing in the middle of the ring banging, but my prediction is going to be that Anderson Silva wins by submission (probably a triangle or a rear naked choke) early in the 2nd round.

I am really not trying to take anything away from Cote. I think he is a great, charismatic fighter and I always enjoy watching his fights. I just don't think he has what it takes to hang with Anderson Silva at this point in both of their careers.

And if I just might add this last point. I don't think Rich Franklin,Travis Lutter, Chris Leben, James Irvin, Nate Marquardt or Dan Henderson were particularly afraid of him either. And none of them made it out of the 2nd round.

  3. I never thought that Silva would one punch Irvin. Irvin has shown a good chin many times before. Cote can win yes. This is mma and anything can happen but the odds are not good for The Predator in this fight. but hey I love huge underdogs and think a huge upset would be cool. but I also want to see a reigning terror other than fedor

  4. i would like to think that someone could possibly beat anderson. but yet no one has. who ever does beat him will get paid soooo much money though. but im rooting for anderson silva. he is by far my favorite. but i would really like to see him get beat just once to see just who can do it.

  5. I think that Patrick Cote is a great fighter that has had some bad showings in the UFC.  He has had some of his best showings in Canada.  I also think that Anderson Silva is one of the best.  I think that if Cote shows up and gives one of better performances it will be a great fight.  Hopefully, it will last longer than 2 minutes because most Silva fights don't last that long.

  6. cote is going to be the pray stuck in the spiders web this match, really you think cote can win, didn't he lose to Leban and we've all seen what happen to leban, you should ask him who hits harder! and as for cote's power what good fighter did he knock out with one punch?

  7. First of all, I don't think anybody that has fought Silva was scared fo him like Cote said. That is a rediculous statement to think that someone would take a fight if they were scared, that would mean they have no intention of winning the fight. Also, for Cote to take 10 straight punches from Silva he is probably going to need a cast iron plate inserted on both sides of his face. Silva hit so hard and so precise, he has the ability to take anybody out with one punch. Look what happened to Irvin, Silva couldn't even get his entire body into it because he was holding Irvin's leg.

I don't think Cote has much chance of making it out of the first round. Look at the competition Cote has faced. Any top names? Yes, but they are all losses. He has not beaten anybody with an impressive resume. And his last fight was a split decision. Since when does a guy get a title shot with a split decision? Cote is over confident and too cocky going into this fight, and Silva will dominate. He dominated Dan Henderson, who even at his age, is a much better fighter than Cote will ever dream of being. All said, Silva will dominate this fight, should finish Cote in first round, second at latest.
